Our mission

The Coa Collective puts mental health technology and social emotional learning supports within reach of the communities that need them most, at low or no cost. We support pilots, staff training, and ongoing access for community organizations that could not otherwise carry the expense.

Our vision

We envision communities where access to mental health support is not determined by budget. Community organizations serve the families with the greatest need and the fewest options. They should be able to offer the same quality of mental health technology and SEL support available to well resourced districts and private practices.

The gap we exist to close

Community organizations are often the first point of contact for families seeking help, and for many the only one. Pediatric therapy waitlists run nine months to a year. Effective mental health technology exists, but it is priced for institutions with dedicated budgets, and the staff expected to deliver it rarely receive training. The organizations closest to the need are the least equipped to pay for what works.

How we work

The Collective does not build technology. We make it accessible.

01 — Pilot

We fund the pilot

An organization evaluates a tool with its own families before committing its own budget. The Collective underwrites the cost so evaluation carries no financial risk.

02 — Train

We fund staff training

The people delivering the work are prepared to do it well. Training is part of every pilot, not an afterthought left to stretched staff.

03 — Stay

What works, stays

What proves effective stays in the organization, with ongoing access supported so families are not cut off when a pilot ends.

Current project

Sensory Toolbox in community organizations

Our current initiative brings the Sensory Toolbox platform into community organizations. Sensory Toolbox is a mobile platform that delivers personalized sensory regulation strategies to neurodivergent children and their families in the moment of need, with a dashboard that gives the team around the child, including clinicians, social workers, and teachers, an accurate view of how the child is doing between visits. The platform is available in English and Spanish.

The Collective supports the pilot and the staff training, so the organization carries no cost while it evaluates the platform with the families it serves.
